Welcome! We are a multi-generation "modern homesteading" family on 3 properties. There are 4 contributors to this blog, so we'll try to remember to post our names at the bottom of each post. Joanne is the 'mom' of the family. She has 3 children who are all married, and so far there are 8 grandchildren. Joanne's mom and stepdad are also in the mix, though as of right now they do not contribute to the "modern homesteading" efforts.
Joanne's daughter, Brianna, as well as her two daughters-in-law, Megan & Molly, are the 3 other contributors. We will each bring our own 'flavor' to the mix, and we hope that between the 4 of us our family will be able to keep up with what's going on here in SW MO.
As you will probably notice, we are really hit-and-miss with posting. We all want to be more consistent, but it just hasn't happened yet.
We are beyond sad to say we have lost a member of our family. Our dear brother, Olen, passed away suddenly / quite unexpectedly and very quickly on July 8th, 2023. Here is a video compilation Joanne made that shares the boys and men digging his grave and then lowering him down and burying him. If you listen, you'll hear Austin (Corban and Megan's oldest) saying, "He go bye-bye in the ground??" :'( There were about 800 people in attendance between the visitation and the funeral service. His brothers carried him to the grave, but his heavenly brothers lowered him down and did most of the burying. I think we are all still in a bit of shock, but we trust that the Father knows best. What a blessing to be able to truly rejoice in a life of service to God!
