YO ... it's JO! [felt like being silly]
Well, this afternoon I stepped outside to assess the situation with the perennials in the bed in front of my house. Although I've only been living here 1 1/2 years or so, this was their 3rd full summer in that bed ... and they do NOT like it there! With Corban talking about building me a new house some day and selling this one to be moved, I figured it was time to get those flowers moved. It sure would have been handy if I would have had them all labeled, right? I don't know where my butterfly weeds / pleurisy roots are, so I'll just have to be extra diligent to mark them next year. Thankfully I can tell what most of them are just by how the stems and dead heads look, and some of the herbs are actually still green.
Today I focused on moving just the Black Eyed Susan. I'm glad I set that as a goal because just doing that took me a solid hour of hard work! Whew! The chickens stood by watching with their funny chicken curiosity, and were really excited when I threw a bunch of onion grass at them ... bulbs and all.
My plan for now is to just move the flowers and herbs into the perennial garden for a 'holding spot', and then they will be ready whenever I am ready to move them to a permanent place. ALSO ... I am starting several more in January - as many pleurisy roots as I can (because they are my favorite), more Echinacea, more Black Eyed Susan, more Echinacea Paradoxa (the yellow ones), Hollyhocks, and other stuff. They might all go into the perennial garden in 'holding spots' until I figure out what I want to do.
It all takes time.
I'll share some photos from this year - these were all taken towards the beginning of last June.
