FB Marketplace

Jo here. Y'all know I hate FB. I just hate it. BUT ... I do keep a private account so I can post on the farm page, help with the church page, and I also check marketplace from time to time with the hopes of finding a living room set that fits all the following basic qualifications:

1. I like it
2. It's in good repair
3. The price is right

However, in browsing the ads, mostly what I see is:

1. I don't like it
2. It has rips, stains, or is otherwise looking really "sad"
3. The price is ridiculous

Any or all may, and usually do apply. So, here are my *bobservations about each number listed above:

1. I don't like it ... definitely a personal thing. I'm looking for something that's a neutral color in some sort of brown shade ... like ... brown. Gray is really popular right now, as is black. I just want something plain and simple.
2. It has rips, stains, or is otherwise looking really "sad" ... is this a pet peeve, or just something that is straight up wrong? I don't know ... what do you think: When something is listed as "in great condition" or "in excellent condition" or "like new", I expect it to be in great / excellent condition and look like new ... however, MOST of the items listed as such just simply look sad. They are sagging in awkward places and do NOT look new. In fact, most of them look like they are several years old, or maybe only a few months old but sat on repeatedly by elephants or something. I've even found several sets listed in this "like new" category for well over $1,000, and they have rips, tears, stains, and so on.
"Like new ... just needs to be washed because it's pretty stained up." "Like new ... just needs a few repairs because my dog chewed up one of the corners." "Like new ... just looks like the high school football team had a scrimmage on it; only once."
3. The price is ridiculous ... ok, I realize you paid $3,000 for your furniture set 10 years ago, however it's just not worth $3,000 today ... or $2,000 ... or even $1,000. Well, if it truly is "like new" but 10 years old, I might consider paying $1,000 if it started out 4 times that amount 10 years ago and I like it, but as of yet, I have not run into such a thing.

So, my living room continues to be mostly empty of furniture. I have an old chair that rocks / swivels [old like 70 years old and from the thrift store?] and an old [used] loveseat that's a really light color and covered with a brown cover. I'm a patient person.

Have a great night!
