“When are you going to start school?”

Hello loved ones! I am making my way through a book called “the successful homeschool family handbook” and have been pondering my duties as a mom, who has decided to homeschool… I keep getting the question “when are you going to start homeschooling your kids”? And a million thoughts come in my head. Life is school. Our job  as mothers is to cater our child’s learning to fit each child’s specific need. That’s the beauty of being able to homeschool. I shouldn’t have to conform to the socially accepted school standards... (I mean, for real though, I have met so many children from the public school systems who can’t even grasp basic math so how well is it working anyways?!) If you can instill a love of learning into your child whether  homeschooled or not, that is what’s going to get them through life. Cramming a ton of information into a child’s small head just pass a test does not mean they’re learning, in most cases they are not learning. They are not absorbing the information. Anyways, so I’m trying in daily life to embrace motherhood and to embrace now. When people ask “when are you going to start schooling your children?” I respond with “life is ‘school’, and so I’ve already started”. Because, I engage with my children daily, I try to answer their questions and bring things to their attention that they would be fascinated by. I try to always remember to include them in daily life routine such as dishes and laundry. I try by day the example to show them that life is about love, Life is about learning and growing. The Lord gave me such a blessing when He gave me these children and I want to hold them preciously in my care and do the best I can by them!

These flowers caught David’s eye outside so we picked them and brought them in and found out what they were and did a little nature study on them. And then I wrote down the words for what they were saying about the flowers

Elvia has a huge fascination with rocks right now. And if you look closely you can also see David in the tree behind her. Shortly after this picture was taken they both launched into a very animated imaginary world of playing baby Jesus. That was a new one, and their manger was the goat barn 😍

Thanks to our good friend Christine, the children have plenty of numbers shapes and letters to cut out Play-Doh with.

I knew that a brother in our church was getting a new shop built and having concrete poured today. So we made time to go over and watch the concrete truck and little David even was allowed in on the action. He was very pumped

We have fun building new train sets almost every day.

David has fun hunting for new chicken nests and found some eggs tucked in the haybale. Pecan came to check it out and see what he was doing

God bless! Brianna
