Excellent for your entire digestive system, and just simply delicious. CCF tea is very common in the ancient health tradition of Ayurveda, of which I am a fan. This commonsense approach to taking care of your body has really helped a few of my biggest issues, but that's a whole other story. Today I just want to share this delicious tea!
CCF (Cumin, Coriander, and Fennel) tea is just an equal blend of the three seeds simmered gently for 5 minutes. Since it's winter, I've been adding fresh ginger, too. This might be too heating in the warmer months, so just be mindful of that when the weather gets warmer.
To make it as easy as possible, I just buy the bags pictured from Natural Grocers. The cumin is actually 5oz instead of 4oz like the others, so sometimes I remove the extra ounce ... sometimes not.
Peel the fresh ginger if it's not organic, otherwise just wash it and leave the skin on. I use about a 2" "thumb" ... which may or may not be too spicy for some. Use a little less if you're not sure, and adjust later if desired. Chop it really small, or grate it. Put it into a stainless steel saucepan with 2 1/2c of water and a lid. Bring to a boil, and then adjust the heat to a more gentle simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes, then add 1t of each seed (or 1T if you mix them all together like I do). Lid back on. Simmer an additional 5 minutes. Strain. Enjoy!
Love to all, j
