Balloch / Loch Lomond area and Inveraray Castle

Here are some photos and a video of part of day 5 ... or at least I think it was day 5. I'll do the second part of day 5 in the next post ... and try to post it in a few days.

So, on day 5 (?) we were in Balloch (Scotland) for the first part of the morning. We all had clothes draped on heat registers and everywhere else possible. I chose to take mine and David's close to an outdoor launderette ... a handy service when you pack light and assume that if a place has a washer it also has a dryer (NO DRYERS except the first place we stayed at!! Keep that in mind if you ever visit Europe!). Once the clothes were dry, David and I met Corban and crew at the Balloch castle grounds for a nice walk. The castle was relatively new compared to other castles we saw, but it was neglected and in serious disrepair. I'm not sure what "their" plans are for the future of that castle but it was a bit sad to see it sitting there, unused. The castle grounds (200 acres) were very beautiful - lots of places to walk or jog, flowers and trees all around. I could walk there every day!!! The open views of the mountains and Loch Lomond were stunning. Here are a few photos I took (video at the very end of this post).

From there we headed an absolutely beautiful twisting, turning hour northwest through mountains, valleys, glens, and next to lochs, to Inveraray to see the town and the castle. I did not get photos or a good video of the town. It was neat with the white and black buildings - situated right on a loch. Crowded / busy, but still I'd love to spend a good day or two there, poking around. The castle was very pretty and interesting. Filled with rich things ... paintings, furniture, tapestries, weapons ... and my favorite, the BIG KITCHEN. NICE!!!!
Here are a few photos of that part of the trip, followed by the video. :) I'll post the second half of this day in a few days.

the town - all the buildings are white with black trim

I think we still need to figure out what this is.

I'm not sure this is legible
