Day 5 of our trip was very eventful! We started off the day actually at the end of the last video I shared - breakfast at the hotel in Northern Ireland. We then headed to the terminal in Belfast to catch the ferry to Cairnryan. This ferry was like the last one except a bit newer and the private cabin was much bigger. It's the MS Stena Superfast VIII ... so nice! I did not get as much video footage on this one, though. It had more stuff ... a spa (for a fee), a cinema (you just walk in, sit down, and watch whatever movie is in-progress ... we were sure to avoid it), a bar/lounge, and like the other one there was also a restaurant, a cafe, a children's play area, and I'm not sure if the other one had a game room but this one did. Very noisy and another thing I stayed far away from. No thanks.
I think the highlight of our trip today was hiking at a place called The Devil's Pulpit. So beautiful!!! The water is red ... tannins, I assume? Or is it because it's surrounded by red sandstone? Or maybe someone else knows why. I found a bit of information on it - it's a 100ft gorge. I guess the area as a whole is called Finnich Glen, and the "Devil's Pulpit" is a specific rock within the glen. This website shares several nice photos and information, including legends / myths. Here are a few photos we took, and then a video sharing a bit of the ferry, a bit of the drive after the ferry, and some of our hike at the gorge.
And the video ...
Ok ... that's it for this day! More of our travels in Scotland are on the way. j
